Liposuction Techniques Revealed

People, naturally, want to be beautiful. Physical beauty counts, given how it can make your romantic and professional life flourish.  Thankfully, with the recent advancements of technology, liposuction is ready and available, like a nearby drugstore.  There are factors, however, that you should consider, before pushing through with liposuction. The cost would come into mind, initially, with a procedure’s stiff rates, then comes safety, and then the types of operations available.

What is Liposuction?

In cosmetic surgery, liposuction is defined as an invasive procedure that aims to shape the body or a part of a body through “sucking” just the right amount of unwanted fatty deposits.  A cannula, a small and lengthy tube, is used for the suction of fat, inserted through a small incision on the fatty areas.

With liposuction defined, you are now ready to choose the procedures your body needs.  Just refer to the list below.

SOME TYPES OF LIPOSUCTION

  • Wet Liposuction – This procedure features the injection of fluid containing around 100 milliliters of local anesthesia and epinephrine, which helps lessen blood loss, while sucking out fat. Around 15% blood loss, which is pretty low considering how the tubes are inserted, is expected from this procedure.
  • Super Wet Liposuction – In super wet liposuction, fluid, containing the components of adrenaline and a local anesthetic, is injected to a region marked with excess fat.  It lessens the amount of pain and blood loss.  Normally, the operation takes around one or a couple of hours for it to be completed, amounting to only 8% blood loss, making it quite an efficient method.
  • Tumescent Liposuction – This is the most popular of all the liposuction techniques. Compared to Super Wet Liposuction, more fluid is injected, containing epinephrine, local anesthesia and lidocaine. This combination of substances helps in minimizing pain and blood loss, better than what a Super Wet procedure offers. Though the operation lasts around 4 to 5 hours, blood loss amounts to only 1%. Thus, it’s the traditional method of choice.
  • Laser Liposuction – In laser liposuction, fluid is injected, like with wet and tumescent liposuction, to lessen bruising and blood loss. Thankfully, a smaller cannula is used compared to the regular one. It is, then, less invasive, minimizing the risks from the operation. The tube will direct a surgical laser to the unwanted fat. Once dissolved, the body, more or less, gets the dissolved fat as part of its system. The remaining fat, if the laser fails to obliterate all of the unwanted fatty tissue, is then suctioned out by the cannula. As for the healing process, the patient can heal in a day or two, much quicker than the three aforementioned techniques, which yield a one week recovery period.

SOME MAJOR FACTORS TO CONSIDER

  • Qualified Surgeon – You must remember that liposuction is an invasive procedure, thus a skilled surgeon is required.  Ideally, a surgeon must have about five years of experience in surgery, professional certification and a track record filled with successful operations. He must be able to walk you through the procedure, answer your questions with facts and should have excellent bedside manner, so you’d feel really comfortable, even during the operation’s toughest stages. Moreover, he is knowledgeable enough to present all the possible options you could take. If your prospective surgeon possesses the mentioned qualities, you are in good hands.
  • Risks – Complications might arise at anytime with liposuction, even at the hands of a proficient surgeon. Some of the risks are: allergies to the medicated fluid used, damage to blood vessels, prolonged recuperation, overdose on chemicals – which may infect a vital organ – excessive amounts of pain, etc. Before proceeding with an operation, bear the risks in mind and weigh them.  This is the ultimate test if you’re really ready for liposuction.  But don’t fret, a combo of exceptional skills in surgery and advanced medical equipment, greatly reduces the risks.  Just do some research, first.
  • Costs – Cheap liposuction may be offered everywhere but along with it comes a long list of possible risks and complications. Since the rates are low, the surgeon’s caliber, the equipment used, and the drugs to be injected are questionable. Yes, there are cheap places that produce astounding results; however, certainty is important with an operation as delicate as liposuction. If you want affordable and efficient liposuction, research on the surgeons and facilities in your area. Know the rates as well as the payment procedures: if they only accept cash or offer a variety of payment methods, much to your convenience.

In any cosmetic procedure, do focus on important considerations, such as the skill of surgeons and the efficiency of medical facilities, before worrying about costs. You’ll always get a better deal with safety rather than settling for something that bears a cheap price, but with uncertain results.
